Ingredients

• 5 egg yolks
• 500 ml milk
• 250 ml double cream
• 50 gm sugar
• 150 gm light chocolate cut in cubes
Method

1. Pour the milk in a saucepan and slowly boil it on a medium flame.
2. Meanwhile, add the egg yolks and the sugar in a bowl. Beat and mix the two carefully until it becomes thick.
3. Add the milk to the mixture of egg yolk and sugar whilst stirring.
4. Warm the custard back on low flame.
5. Keep stirring the custard until it thickens.
6. Make sure you do not bring it to a boiling point because it may curdle.
7. Before removing the pan from the stove, add the chocolate cubes to the warm custard. This allows the chocolate to slowly melt into it.
8. Stir the custard for mixing the chocolate uniformly.
9. Take it off the stove and allow it to cool for some time.
10. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator.
11. Using a blender or an egg beater, slush the custard until creamy and frothy.
12. Add the whipped double cream to the chilled custard and mix it properly.
13. Finally, transfer the mixture to an ice-cream maker and refrigerate it as per the instructions given in the manual.
Garnishing

You may garnish chocolate ice cream in several ways depending on your taste bud and flavor of choice.

• Top it with grounded almonds
• Whipped cream would make the ice cream creamier
• You can also double the taste of chocolate ice cream by splurging into a scoop of vanilla with it.
For best results, prepare the custard a night before and chill it in the refrigerator before it is churned. This will surprisingly soften the taste and flavor of the custard.
